The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre, and St. Joseph’s Health Care London, is seeking a Pathologist for a full-time clinical academic appointment.
Position Profile: The ideal candidate will have clinical expertise in one of the following subspecialties: cytopathology, head and neck pathology and dermatopathology; other subspecialties are not excluded. Fellowship training is considered an asset. Additional clinical duties will include participation in intraoperative consultations (excluding neuropathology) and after-hours call. Autopsy work is not part of this role. The position entails teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, residents, and clinical fellows. Academic activities of the position will be tailored according to the candidate’s career goals with emphasis on education, research or quality initiatives. The successful candidate will have a full-time, limited-term clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or a continuing appointment as Associate or Full Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.
Qualifications: Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and must have certification in Anatomical, Clinical or General Pathology.
The Department and Hospital: The Department is a leader in diagnostic pathology in Canada and fulfills the academic mandate of London Health Sciences Centre as a research-intensive acute care tertiary and quaternary teaching hospital. The Division of Pathology is fully subspecialized with an annual workload of approximately 63,000 surgical specimens, 15,000 cytology specimens and 1,000 autopsies. The Department has a long history of collegiality and teamwork. With a record of excellence in many areas of diagnostic service, teaching and research, it represents an environment conducive to career and personal development.
