Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $86,500-$228,600. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. The Department of Pathology at the University of California San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks academic pathologists to join the Division of Anatomic Pathology.
The successful candidates will primarily attend and sign-out on the subspecialized head, neck, and cardiothoracic pathology, breast pathology, and gastrointestinal/hepatobiliary pathology services of the Anatomic Pathology Division. The successful candidates will have clinical responsibilities for specimens associated with robust organ transplant, general care, and cancer programs at the Rebecca and John Moores Cancer Center (the region's only NCI-designated Cancer Center), Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center and Cardiovascular Institute, Jacobs Medical Center, Hillcrest Medical Center, and the Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion at UC San Diego Health, as well as our referral/outreach/consultation programs and an expanding clinical integration network. The teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows is also expected.
The appropriate series and appointment will be based on the candidate's background and experience.
Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application) Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or an MD/PhD in Osteopathic Medicine, or related field and have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must also be Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology (AP) or anatomic pathology/clinical pathology (AP/CP). Candidates must have completed fellowship training in at least one of three subspecialties of Head & Neck/Cardiothoracic Pathology, Breast Pathology, and/or Gastrointestinal/Hepatobiliary Pathology.
