The Medical Assistant II performs variety of patient care, technical, and administrative duties to assist practitioners and other members of health care team in providing high quality patient care through health care system. The Medical Assistant participates as a team member in the overall functioning of the clinic. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the flow of the patients for assigned providers (as applicable) each day. They perform duties and procedures as described in the Primary Responsibilities section.
Rooms patients and families to exam/procedure area
Documents vital signs and other patient information per clinic policy
Assists with procedures as directed
Conducts clerical tasks, patient transport, cleaning and restocking of exam rooms and other requests to maintain clinic flow
Recognizes symptoms of common medical illnesses, abnormal vs., and new/existing pain and immediately escalates to RN and/or provider
Coordinating outside labs results and notify pt. of norm labs results
Acts as preceptor/ trainer
Assist with Nurse Triage
Performs blood draws as directed
Reinforce compliance in billing / coding
Facilitates distribution of clinical contacts, schedules and care management tools.
Monitor and assist with clinic flow, adjusting as needed to ensure efficient pt. flow.
Request medical record from external/internal facilitates and prepare for provider review.
Collaborates with clinic nursing supervisor to develop operational strategies and process improvements for department / unit.
Acts as a liaison between patients/families and health care providers.
Assist in resolving and/or responding to non-clinical related patient complaints and inquiries
Education enabling obtainment of Medical Assistant Certification
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
2+ years relevant work experience
Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice.
Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington State and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice (Application must be submitted within 1st 30-days of hire)
Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
Willingness to participate in the process improvement initiatives
Proficient in email and word processing systems
Experience with Electronic Medical Records
Strong interpersonal and customer services skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment
Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner
Ability to follow direction and guidance
Ability to recognize limitations and seek help
Ability to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunities
Ability to appropriately respond to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol and scope of practice
SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.96 to $35.53 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
