The Cytotechnologist 2 performs screening of gynecological cytology specimens and renders an appropriate diagnosis, triages abnormal gynecologic cases to pathologists. Pre-screens non-gynecologic cytology cases for pathologist review. Serves as a quality control and assurance coordinator. Assists in the maintenance and creation of lab procedures. Oversees inventory control and supply management within the laboratory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Completes screening and computer entry of diagnosis for gynecological and non-gynecological cases.
Coordinates cytology department QA/QC program.
Performs selected technical support functions to aid in the execution of lab procedures.
Maintains technical procedures to ensure effective and efficient laboratory operations.
Participates in inventory control, cost containment, budgeting and personnel issues to help ensure continued effective and efficient operations.
Works to create and sustain a quality work environment.
Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.
