Pennsylvania Hospital University of Pennsylvania Health System Department of Pathology Surgical Pathology Fellowship Immediate Opening (07/01/2021-06/30/2022) Pennsylvania Hospital prides itself as being the nation’s very first hospital, established in 1751 by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond. During its unique history spanning nearly 3 centuries, the hospital has been an innovator in patient care, education and medical research. It has established a national reputation for routine and high-risk obstetrics, care of high-risk newborns and multiple births, among other medical and surgical specialties. The department of Pathology has always played a key role in patient care in this era of evidence based personalized medicine. As part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the department provides excellent diagnostic services in anatomic and clinical pathology. Our experienced faculty are affiliated to the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and, play a major role in education and research. The pathology residency program at Pennsylvania Hospital is an ACGME accredited 4-year, combined Anatomic Pathology & Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)... program, comprising 8 residency positions (generally 2 residents per year). As a teaching program within the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the residency program is able to provide an excellent learning opportunity for our residents. The residents achieve excellent success in the American Board of Pathology certification, and secure outstanding fellowships, and job placements in both community and academic settings.
