Overseeing the day-to-day operations of Cytology, the experienced professional we select for this important role will supervise a group of employees in lab departments and responsible for performance reviews, assigning work to team members, scheduling time off, and determining work priorities. Reporting to the manager, laboratory direction, this individual will coach and counsel employees to encourage performance improvement, provide strong recommendations regarding hires/terminations, assist with budgeting, use discretionary judgment in the management of staff, customers, and visitors; and implement disciplinary action as needed. In addition to providing staff education and training, this person will identify and facilitate opportunities for improving quality care and services, stewardship, employee satisfaction, communication, accountability, and customer satisfaction.
Education, Experience, and Licensure:
Successful applicants will each possess a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, histotechnology, cytology, or equivalent and have completed an approved clinical laboratory internship. Additional essentials include licensure as a histologist, cytologist, or clinical laboratory technologist by the state of Florida; meeting requirements for General Supervisor under CLIA regulations; and Clinical Laboratory Supervisor licensure at or within six months of time of hire. ASCP certification preferred.
