Academic Cytogenetics Faculty
The Department of Pathology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, invites applications for a non-tenured full-time faculty position in the Laboratory of Cytogenetics at the level of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor starting Summer 2018. Applicants must hold MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degrees with advanced training in human genetics or related fields. Candidates must be certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics. Candidates with MD degree must be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Illinois. Additional training in Pathology is a plus. Rank and remuneration will be determined by qualification and experience.
The successful candidate will display excellence in diagnosis and teaching in cancer cytogenetics as well as constitutional and prenatal cytogenetics. The faculty member will be expected to have hands-on bench training in cytogenetics, FISH, and microarray platforms. Duties include signout of clinical cases and supervision of personnel in the Cytogenetics Lab, including case review and interpretation, trouble-shooting, new test development, and oversight of QA/QC and compliance with regulatory policies. The successful candidate will have good communications skills, since the lab interacts closely with our clinical colleagues as well as Pathologists in other divisions of the Department. The Division actively participates in medical student teaching, the pathology residency program, and the Advanced Specialty Training in Pathology fellowship program.
